This cemetery occupies six acres of land originally purchased from the Alamo Masonic Lodge in 1855. A sexton lived on the cemetery property until about 1950. Notable burials include Captain Sam Walker, Indian fighter; Otto Zirkel, one of the leading monument manufacturers of the city; and George Holmgren, Alamo Iron Works founder.
