"Ready and Forward" Buffalo Soldier Sculpture
1602 Wyoming St.The metal sculpture designed by James Wyatt Hendricks and Bernice Williams at the center of the park honors the African-American Buffalo Soldiers who were cavalry soldiers in the U.S. Army during the late 19th century. The sculpture resembles the soldiers stacked rifles and sabres representing both the cavalry and infantry troops.
