The Sacred Heart Conventual Chapel was founded by the Sisters of the Congregation of Divine Providence, the original founders of Our Lady of the Lake University, in 1921. One of the most recognized Westside landmarks, the spire reaches 193 feet and was the tallest structure in San Antonio until 1929 when the Smith-Young Tower was completed. In 1996, a full restoration of the Chapel took place at a cost of $2.8 million. During the school year, masses are held at 7 p.m. on Sundays.
