Artpace San Antonio was established in 1995 by San Antonio artist and businesswoman Linda Pace (1945-2007).  The organization provides residency, exhibitions, and educational programs for contemporary artists from around the world.   The International Artist-in-Residence is an annual program that solicits artists from Texas, the United States, and abroad to live and work in San Antonio with a two-month residency and two-month exhibition. The exhibitions are part of the ArtElements art curriculum that reaches thousands of visitors a year.  Artpace is located within a 1920s Hudson auto dealership building that was extensively renovated by the San Antonio architecture firm of Lake/Flato.  The facility provides 18,000 square feet of space for artists, students, and families.
